MKO Day 1 Recap The first day of MKO has officially concluded! Players from all around the world have gathered here in Bloomington, Minnesota to compete in the biggest kendama stage in the US. Freestyle preliminaries started the afternoon off right, with unique runs from Thorkild May, So Kanada, Wyatt Bray, and Lukas Sandgren and several others. Sweets, Kendama USA, KROM, Sol and other vendors were also present for the entirety of the day, with exclusive damas and sweet deals ready for attendants to scoop up. The first rounds of Open Division and the first ever Girl's Open Division here at MKO closed the evening, with Open Division holding a total of 191 competitors and a whopping total of 127 Open Division matches played in the preliminaries!
MKO Day 2 Recap The second day of the Minnesota Kendama Open has come to a close! The Mall of America has seen some amazing kendama play and intense competition. Beginner and Intermediate preliminary rounds started the day off, with the first ever Girl's Beginner and Intermediate preliminaries right after. Sweets surprised the kendama world with a special announcement that Nick and Zack Gallagher are pro for Sweets Kendamas! Followed by the pro announcement was top 64 of the Open Division Bracket, as well as the first round of Girl's Open Division! Intense matches were played and champions were made, as Gabe Youngstrom takes first place in the 2nd annual Yank Spike Competition over last year's champion, Zach Magnuson! Open Division continued to end the night, with the following players entering tomorrow's top 8: Kengo Kawamura Lyndon Whalen Nick Gallagher Nolan Helfrich So Kanada Gabe Youngstrom Bryson Lee Lukas Funk Stay tuned for all the Finals Day action at MKO 2017 tomorrow, Sunday 10/29!
