I have never really lost my love for Pro Clear, but playing the V10 Baja Bamboo the last few weeks has really got me loving it again. Pro Clear is like magic the way it changes from play and temp.

This is a great thread! We have been wanting to get a chart on the Sweets site to explain the differences. Let me know if you think that would be helpful.

Man that would be super helpful. It’s so hard to find this info, especially if you aren’t aware of the online communities involved with kendama

Sweets should make a YouTube video, just a run down of their paints through the ages, and fresh vs seshed tamas to see how they break in

@CodyGriz Had a question from one of our guys about the Prime Custom Grape Haze Split he recently picked up. He wanted to know what was under the Cushion Clear. In the past Cushion Clear was put over aTack on painted tama, I've got a Rasta fade like that, but how about now? On painted tama that list "Cushion Clear" as the paint/coating is the base paint still aTack?

I have seshed a matt sweets pro mod for over a year now and it's still quite sticky. Make sure it has the Sticky Clear vs Cushion paint if you are after it being sticky.

I’ve heard some people say that it breaks in the more you play it and becomes less slippery. Is this your experience?

Eventually all paint will go slippery and get sticky again use a baby wipe on it and it usually gets sticky again. You should look in to breaking in a natty theirs nothing quite as sticky as a well broken in natty. Expect for well broken in pro clear.

for your first defiantly ash or beech they break in faster maple takes the longest but definitely the most satisfying. It will be really slippery out of the box but with time and sweat it will get really sticky.

Ash select is super on point and for the price it is hard to beat. I am breaking in my second on right now and it is just the best. One of the most underrated kens ever IMO. Also any ash natty from Analog. Analog uses some really great ash for their kens and they are totally worth the money.

I really want a coop mod but the only available one in my area is the one with cushion clear. I'm jamming a oase legend mod right now and I'm in love with the sticky clear paint. The problem is that I have zero experience with cushion clear and it somehow happens to be the last dama left in their online store (the place where I'm buying from doesn't exist as a psychical place and I don't have the option to go and try it myself). So what's it like guys, is it like rubber paint or something completely different? Im really curious about it and since I'm about to pay a little too much I want to know if it's worth it!

I'm probably going to be the only one to say this, but I wouldn't recommend it. Mine peeled very quickly and really wasn't nearly as grippy as people say. Probably got a bad one though because everyone else is probably going to rave on it lol.

You're not the only one lol. My friend bought a V11 Grape Haze Split and he experienced something similar. Cush tends to be a hit or miss paint, but I would recommend it nonetheless because when it's good, it's really good.
