I am looking to put together a jam in Pittsburgh within the month, and I have found myself debating what prizes I should give out for the first one. My hope is to have this be a once or twice a month local jam, so I am looking for a prize structure that is alluring, but also sustainable. But of course, I will go a little above and beyond for the first jam. I was thinking for the first one, to give away a Sweets Sumo as the "Game of Ken" prize, and a Krom hat for a "Spike off", and have door prizes for a few different things. Any and all suggestions will be greatly appreciated. All prizes are coming out of my personal stash at first, its honestly a good paring down activity, and plus this way I can really give back.
Downspike pins! Stickers Buy a button maker and make a bunch of rad kendama buttons Buy a box of donuts and make everyone lace a trick to get one Do a raffle instead of giving a prize to every person who comes Reach out to companies to see if they're willing to sponsor the event Call local restaurants or stores to see if they'd be willing to donate coupons for free stuff Go to the pet store and buy a bunch of those $.25 feeder fish and give them out as prizes Lol I could come up with absurd ideas all day! But for real, how much are you looking to spend? Do the prizes all have to be kendama related?
We have some stickers to give away, but we need to step up the button game. But to start I have a ton of kendamas to give away before sponsors are needed. I guess more accurately, to people who have gone to jams before, what is are the average prizes that are given away. I just don't have a ton of meetup experience.
Where I live the college has a jam every month and to enter we bring 15 dollars worth of junk food and winner takes all. Pretty fun and your not really out much
