I was seshing my krom nihon ash slaydawg and then suddenly the string got detached from my ken, even though the ken was in tact and the cups didn't fall off. Does anyone know why this happened? Thanks

Did it break or come out complete? If it broke it probably was wearing on a sharp edge (if you take it apart and there is still string in the sarado or ken then it was cut). If it just came out then the knot likely wasn't big enough. I've seen some knots get pulled through.

Im not sure because when I looked at the string after it got detached and the knot was still there, and when I took apart the sarado there wasn’t any excess string.

Your knot probably wasn't big enough. Try doing a double slipknot where you knot the string one more time on the loop side of a slipknot. Either that or use the stringing method from the first Sweets Kendamas restringing video.

Another option that might work is using a small band under the sarado like in this video. Never had a knot get past that. Also have tried orthodontics elastics but they're a good bit thicker.

For some reason, I have had this happen to me too, especially on Slaydawgs (From my experience; Ballard mod, and 6 yr Bday). The knot Krom uses out of the box is too small for the hole in the ken, so it can just slip out. Now I always double knot on slaydawgs.

Actually, I do have one tip: Just twist the sarado to the side so that the big/small cup and logo will face the same way. It makes the string just a bit shorter, but after a while, you'll get used to it.

My 6 year has the same problem but instead of the ken it’s always the tama even when I double knot

I try to use this tutorial as much as I can whenever I have a knot that's too small. Just use that wrapping around the string technique and see if it works.
