Bryan Hansen had revealed a new release from Krom around May 5th, opinions? It looks alright. Really just waiting for KROM to release something AS good as the O.K collab. Let me know what y’all think though!
I don't think a toy company, whose main consumers are children, should be endorsing Adam and No Jumper. This is not to say he's a bad person or anything, not at all. I just don't think what he talks about, does and posts is appropriate for a younger audience.
Wait is Krom actually selling those on their site? or are they going to be sold exclusively through the No Jumper blog? Because one way, Krom is promoting No Jumper, and the other way No Jumper is promoting Krom. I think there is a big difference.
I would be fine if it is through no jumper, so more people will be exposed to kendama rather more people exposed to no jumper...
The tama is trash but I don’t get the hate on the guy, he’s the only reason I even know what a kendama is.
If you do a bit of research, you can see some of his history of sexual misconduct. Of course, these are just allegations and he's denying them, but his abrasive attitude puts me off and makes me inclined to believe these accusations. Bumping back up. As some of you all may know, No Jumper has come out with their own line of kendamas that a number of players have taken a liking to (EJ Williams for example). Have you seen them on instagram? What are your thoughts?? Imo, not exactly interested at all in their kendama in and of itself, reputation of Adam22 aside the kendama shape just does not appeal to me and would rather have a Sweets Prime (a similar, objectively better shape and supporting a kendama brand that I know for sure puts back into the community).
To a degree, I appreciate that No Jumper is getting the word out about kendama. That said, trash like Adam22 becoming major faces in the kendama scene would be absolutely awful. I want the kendama community to grow and become more diverse, which No Jumper could promote. That said, it's not worth it if the guy leading the charge is a misogynist who has built up their entire identity around appropriating black culture. We already have a ton of amazing people in the community putting so much work into making it more inclusive, sustainable, and positive. This is the last thing we need.
Agreed, especially on the part about sustainable, inclusive, and positive growth. I don't want kendama to ride this street culture trend, honestly. Sure, riding with said trend is a major reason why kendama is bigger than it's ever been before, as the game has been exposed to a more diverse demographic, but having what is primarily a kid's toy associated with all these bad people (Adam22 and XXXTentation, among others) does nothing positive for our little community.
it's a good collab(pls be maple and LOL clear), the krom co-sign is positive growth for the sport IMO. Honestly,Adam22 ruins kendama as much as chick-fil-a ruins chicken's sandwiches. (they don't) It's a No Jumper Collab with a premium dama manufacturer that's going to sell well to their targeted audience. So win-win for them I guess?
One of my fears about stuff like this is that kendama players will jump on these damas because they feel like they bring kendama a bit more into the mainstream. We're all tired of trying to legitimize this hobby to people who don't play, so to some a No Jumper kendama will make it a bit easier to feel like they're not just playing with a toy. My biggest fear is that it will work very well and soon other big kendama companies are going to try and capitalize on it then someday we'll have Adam22 as a judge at MKO or something like that
Some big companies were already clout-chasing No Jumper.... right up until the No-Jumper branded kendamas were launched. Perhaps unsurprisingly, we stopped seeing NoJumper stuff being posted by those account right about the same time... lol the Backwoods collab. Design is kinda uninteresting, but thats a pretty funny collab nonetheless
