@Alex Delfosse welcome to the boards. If you're doing something in schools it would be great to hear about it. Have a look at these threads for more info: Elementary school kendama club Getting kendama into gym curriculums
Kinda weird introducing myself this far into my downspike days...but anyway, I'm Aaron! I started kendama in the beginning of 2017 when I brought my first one to the Rose Parade because we were spending the night on the street and I knew I was gonna be bored. It was a 3 month old kendama that my sister brought home from the LA county fair which sat on her shelf the entire time. I jammed by myself for a little over a year before I recently made friends at the Orange Jams and started posting content on insta. Before that, downspike was my only way of communicating anything dama related. I'm glad to be part of this great community!
Hi all! So I had the pleasure to discover Kendama through my seven year old daughter on the 22. March. We went straight to our local juggling/toy store and picked up a Play Pro II. I have not been able to put it down since. I haven't been this hooked on something since I discovered skateboarding as a young child. My first set up already seems to be losing its pop and it's hasn't even been a month. Is this normal? I work as a bike messenger so I'm outdoors all the time. I try my best to protect the Kendama from the elements but it's influence are inevitable. In between jobs I'm just waiting next to my walkie talkie practicing around Japan. I'm glad to have found this community with a wealth of resources to assist in me getting as good as I can be. Peace! Insta: @MOLOKO23 D.
Hello! Here to introduce my self! I started playing Kendama about three months when I saw a vlog if someone using one and was instantly interested. I plan on playing for awhile and see how good I can get. Still learning some of the basics My IG is @beast.coast if anyone wants to give me a follow!
THEM YEEZYS THO!!!! I was on that boost train for a while, but recently picked up some vapormax plus's and they are so comfy too....
Yeezy or bust! I’m to see other sneakerheads here. I love vapormaxes but the sole on the plus drives me nuts lol
just a suggestion as I think we shouldn't spam this thread with offtopic things, somewhere there is a fashion/sneaker thread
@beast.coast @Jasper B. , @slothymane is correct and here's the thread: Sneakerhead Thread. Also @beast.coast we have a Beginner's Forum you might want to check out as well, some good stuff there. Welcome to the boards.
heyo! my name is che! i’m fairly new to the kendama scene. only been steady playing since like january 2018. i live in Fairbanks, Alaska and i have yet to find any slayers near my area. i know of some in anchorage alaska but that’s a bit of a drive. My overall goal is to get more involved with the kendama community and spread the love of dama to as many Alaskans as i possibly can. @ak_cherae is my insta handle if you’d like to give me a follow.
1) My name is Thomas! I'm from the San Francisco Bay Area (Walnut Creek to be exact). I started playing after seeing the KUSA and Jake Wiens exhibition at Jpop Summit 2017. Been addicted ever since. 2) My instagram: @thomasdangvo Other instagrams: @calicraft (a brewery based in Walnut Creek - I'm one of the owners) @white2tea (a tea company...even if you dont drink tea, I feel like most dama players would appreciate the vibe from their brand) Hope to hangout more! I was able to catch a couple of the last KG Tuesday sessions with Jake. KG Tuesday is still alive, but its in San Mateo, so a little to far for me to go to. Been meaning to check out GhostFoxFriday at Japantown. Seeing if theres enough interest and enough of a community we can do a dama meetup at my brewery as well! Cheers!
Hi, my name is Hali, and I just got into kendama a few weeks ago. I’ve been lurking on Downspike for a bit, and I figured I should finally say hello. Hello! Okay, so basically, I was into yo-yos as a kid (I’m 30 now), and I wanted to get back into them. I bought a few yo-yos, including a couple at my local game shop. I also saw a kendama there (Sweets Prime Avalanche) and was intrigued, as I had never seen one before. So I bought that Sweets Prime and found myself gravitating to kendamas way more than the yo-yos (#sorrynotsorry). I have a few kendamas now, and also a wenge Terra Pill (which I also love), and I am working my way through beginner tricks! I’ve got some kendamas from Sweets (Minnesota kendama love!) and Analog (Baller designs!), and I am excited to keep adding to my collection. I would love to get some kendamas from Grain Theory, DWI, Terra, Sol, and many more! Those Terra Prefect releases got me like daaaaaaaaaamn. Also gotta love that Harry Potter reference #prefect! In addition, I am a graphic designer, so I was also incredibly pumped to learn about the Sweets Design a Prime contest. I submitted an entry yesterday, and I plan to submit one or two more. My Instagram handle is mndama320 for kendama stuff (Thanks so much to anyone who has liked my Wolfdog entry so far!). I am not quite confident enough to post trick stuff yet, but I am working my way up to it! You guys have all been incredibly awesome in sharing your knowledge. Shout out to @cutthenoise for his awesome YouTube videos, although many of you have also been very helpful in my journey! Thanks to everyone for sharing all the knowlege you have! I love this place! I love this community! Instagram: mndama320 (kendama stuff) + halidanielson (all the life stuff) Thank you all, Hali

I started yoyoing in 2008 right before going off to college, and bought a Kendama a few years ago, but never got into it much. That changed about a month ago, and I’ve been hooked ever since. I have been jamming on a Sweets Prime and a Kaizen 2.0. I also am an avid martial artist an into video and tabletop games. You can find me on instagram at @really_ritter if you’re interested.
Hello dama lovers My name is François Morin, but everyone calls me Frank or Nardath (Nard). I'm 30 and I live in St John's Newfoundland Canada, its a large island on the east coast of canada. I'm a Refrigeation Mechanic currently working in a Cryogenics lab at the local university. Growing up i was always into skill toys. it started with yo-yo, then devil sticks and diabolo, hacky sack, finger board, skateboarding, zippo tricks, pen spinning, freestyle frisbee and sure im forgetting some lol I also play lots of ultimate frisbee, i play in a few local leagues and am part of the newfoundland travelling mens team where we go on 2-3 tournements out of province a year. I've been playing Kendama for little over a year and a half after being recommended by alot of my youtube/instagram followers. I've been flipping butterfly knives for over 9 years and am a respected member of the online Balisong community, my user name is Nardath but rarely post kendama stuff on my knife page because not all balisong fans are kendama fans hahah being modest im probably one of the most known butterfly knife flippers in the community, but not the best lol just been around a while. (i now wonder what i would have become if i started kendama instead of knife flipping how good id be now lol) My main account on instagram is Nardath https://www.instagram.com/nardath/?hl=en but like i said theres not much kendama on there, check it out it if your interested in butterfly knives. i also have over 500 videos on youtube https://www.youtube.com/user/Nardath I met some local kendama players around a year ago and we share a kendama page on instagram called Kendama.NL https://www.instagram.com/kendama.nl/?hl=en I'm all about sharing the kendama love, ive given away 15 kendamas since i started and have only kept a few favorites including a Maple Nihon Slaydawg, OG HG birch cushion, Wyatt Bray pro mod, GTE1, F3 smash ball and F3 natty cush. i also have a jumbo terra pill natty, a cherry wood pill and a BQhans painted jumbo kendama. anyways thanks for reading ! see ya on the interwebz
Asuhhh I’m jake and I’m from Cleveland, Ohio I’ve been playing kendama for a solid year now and it’s so fun. I got into it by watching watching my buddy Monkayglands do some sick wood burnings on twitch and also my other buddy watched him as well and convinced me to get one and I’ve been hooked ever since! FINALLY! A forum to call home! lol Hey all, I'm Tyler and I started playing kendama in 2014. I was staying out in the Bay area for a few weeks when a friend of mine introduced me to a buddy who had one of these around his neck. If I can recall, it was a Krom walnut with a volcanic splatter type tama. It was honed to say the least. Within the first 20 min, I had nailed my first spike, airplane and J stick (thanks yo-yo'ing childhood lol). I was addicted from then on. I immediately ordered a Red TK-16, not knowing this is the first kendama to make its way to the US a decade ago. I fell off for a few years and recently got back into after going to a Mr. Carmack and Tsuruda show. Thomas was selling the Prime custom collab (Cousin Litt) he had done with Sweets. I picked it up right after the show (Fall 2017) and haven't put it down since. Getting back into the game has been awesome, I missed so much in kendama technology advancements that playing now is almost more fun than when I started. I love kendama because of the persistence and gratification of achievement it gives... and its just damn right FUN. Stoked to be a part of this site and the kendama family. Helloooo Downspike! I've been lurking around for a bit but finally want to say hi and introduce myself. My name is Gene Nillas from Vancouver, BC. I've been playing Kendama for about a year now. The first time I saw a kendama was at my cousin's house a few years back. More recently a couple of people in our skate/longboard community play and I was more intrigued, it was like watching some ninja witchcraft. The first kendama I bought was randomly from the dollar store, the string broke a few weeks after. Then I ended up buying a Krom Noia from Dama on the Drive. I brought this with me on a month long RV trip across america to kill some time while we had downtime... there was a lot of downtime haha. Hyped that one of my friend's on the trip also played kendama so I learned a lot from him! My favourite thing about kendama is the connections, of all kind! Ken to tama, Tama to Ken, strangers and friends, kendama and skateboarding, mind and body or even kendama and weddings. (I bought my friend and his wife kendamas as a wedding gift. In the card I wrote how you can find parallels in kendama that can relate to relationships/marriage, ie balance, hardwork, love, etc.) I don't use my instagram anymore, but if you guys like skateboarding/longboarding check out https://www.instagram.com/skateinvaders
