Kendama's make great stocking stuffers. So here's the challenge:

GIVE SOMEONE A KENDAMA this Christmas!

Post a photo or video of someone getting their first Kendama, or a photo of the kendama you plan to give someone, or even a description of how you're giving kendama away this holiday season.

The best / funniest / most interesting story, photo, or video wins the following stocking from DOWNSPIKE:

-Full Hickory OG from @RWB Mfg
    -Micro dama ornament from KROM
-Custom Kaizen and string pack from @Kendama USA
-Training Tama, Slaybands, and LunaTac moldable weights from LunaTac / @Steezdiaz
    -LOTS OF STICKERS

So actually, a few kids at the middle school that I go to have no idea about what kendama actually is, and because I'm the only one that is still playing with it at my school, I'm pretty much the only person that you can go to now to see what is possible with it. So, I though that I would go out to Daiso at my local mall and buy a few $5 kendamas for them so that they can actually play with them and have fun. The only thing was that the kens on these damas were the ones with really small cups, but I didn't have much time before winter break started, so I just decided to give it to them on the day before winter break began.

Once I introduced them to kendama and what you could do with it, they were instantly hooked, and they had a lot of fun playing with the $5 damas that I had bought for them. Deep down, I felt kinda happy that these kids could actually enjoy kendama as much as I did when I first started playing.

And that's how I gave a few kendamas away for the holiday season. (BTW, my instagram is @redninja25718)

So this weekend I'm going to a White Elephant gift exchange party (about 15-20 people there and they're all weebs and/or nerds in their own way lol). Less than a handful of them know about kendama but don't have their own. also, I know I'm the only one that plays. So as my white elephant gift this year, I'm throwing in a Gudetama kendama! :D Hopefully whoever gets it will enjoy and play some dama (and also who doesn't love the lazy egg from sanrio?? lol)

image.jpg So actually, I bought my brother (some secret expensive stuff, hint hint KUSA) for his Christmas Present(she's already slaying! It's in the picture on top). And then I also bought my mom a tribute stripe as an early Christmas present. At Christmas Eve, I have a family up in SF that I visit and we spend the day there. I have brought Kendamas there before, but never gave any away. This year, I've copped the 40 pack of KendamaCos (coming on the 23rd), and I'm giving them away as gift exchanges, white elephants, or others. Also I go to San Jo Slays, and usually giveaway damas there. I'm giving away a KROM halfsplit ken. Plus, I'm in highschool right now, and Kendama has died down in the Bay Area, that people say it's pretty much dead and I get made fun of for playing. So right now, I'm gonna try to get all grades (yes even seniors) back into it, and bring the fun back and create a club soon in my sophomore year. It's gonna be really fun planning all these ideas I have out. I even forgot to talk about getting my dad a blue/white triple stripe from SoCal dama over the summer (RIP). Keeping dama alive really isn't that hard, and my dad doesn't even think it's been around that long, when in reality it has. The first company I ever sought was Kendama USA, and my favorite edit when I first started was Colin Sanders Practicing Kendama and that edit inspired me to bring my dama everywhere, learn new tricks, and even my first dama was a Blue Classic! I've now been playing Kendama for a year this month. It's so happy to see all the happy faces when people land big cups and spike and it's so fun to teach them! And I hope I can spread it around the entire Bay Area (I'll also tell them about Downspike;) Cheech, keep up the good work)!

Earlier this year I came across some Kuma Films videos and for the first time saw Kendama being performed by Zoomdanke. I was blown away!! Soon afterward I discovered Kendama USA and all the awesome tutorials they have put together and Kendama just looked so fun. I grabbed my first Kaizen and started jamming. It couldn’t have come at a better time and it just brought so much more focus and fun into my daily life! I come from a pretty huge family and all of my siblings were super intrigued by Kendama when I shared it with them, they had a ton of fun playing/learning Moshikame, Spike, etc and it's become an awesome way to spend time together. It is so great to see some of my younger siblings stoked on something that doesn't have a digital screen attached to it.

So I ordered a KenCo Shenzu Pack 3 months ago because I knew I wanted to give the gift of ‘Dama this year! I now have a Kendama gift for every one of my siblings (and two cousins!). I am super excited to give these away this weekend and hopefully I can come back to this thread with a video of the unboxing (unbagging??) Huge thanks and shoutouts to Downspike, KUSA, RWB, and SlayLunars for keeping Kendama strong and progressing. I can say with almost 100% certainty that I don't think I ever would've started my own personal ‘Dama Quest if it wasn't for the fine folks of these companies and more! Keep slaying!

So my parents have known that I play with this toy but haven't paid much attention to it until recently. Sooooo I get home for holiday break and my dad has gotten himself a 7 dollar Walgreens Kendama and about mastered big cup with small cup not too far behind. We had a Kendama sesh that lasted hours and that's about all it will take to getcha hooked on Dama. He now takes one of my dama to work so he can practice on his free time. I being the poor college kid I am don't even have the money to buy him a new Kendama, but we were talking last night and I told him I really want him to have a new one. So he basically agreed to lend me the money until I can pay him back. I figured since he already knows he has a new dama coming I might as well let him pick what he wants though I already had a decent idea.

So we're scrolling through Kendama USA together I'm showing him the tributes, the kaizens, the pro models, everything he was super into a lot of them. That's when he saw the ozora street black. So my dad works for a microphone company, he used to be the sound guy for live music shows all the time. So they can get on stage to fix tukbgs during the show if needed they always wear all black. That's fits my dads personality as he pretty much always wears black. So he falls in love with the ozora street black of course black on black.

Now comes some hilarity, my dad has been giving my mom a hard time about spending too much money this Christmas. So my dad says I have to intercept the Kendama when it gets here, wrap it and put it under the tree before my mom sees it to try not to be a hypocrite I guess. We'll all pretend it's from Santa and it'I'll all be good. He checks out after explaining this to me. Only to realize we checked out with amazon and my mom gets confirmation emails for amazon stuff. Just as all this finishes my mom gets home from work. We're all chattin' and my dad shows off his new big cup little cup skill to my mom on his 7 dollar piece of plastic. The first thing my mom says is honey we can get you a nice one if you really want to play. Me and my dad thought this was pretty funny considering the whole plan we came up with, we both start laughing and confess telling her our plan.

Now on Christmas there won't only be two Kendama waiting for me to unbox. My dad gets to unbox one too. My brother already plays Kendama so we're planning to get my mom one so the entire family has a Kendama.

    Merry Christmas
    Happy holidays :)

This month, one of my friends got really interested in kendama from me playing. At the time, I didn't have many kendamas, so there weren't any that I could give away. However, when I ordered a yoyofactory mystery box, I got a catchy plastic kendama in it. I didn't really enjoy it that much, but I played it a bunch. So there was this one annoying girl who wouldn't stop bugging me and my friend. She had a big crush on him and she kept asking me for advice. However, my friend didn't really like her. She would text me all the time asking for advice and begging me to tell her things about him. Well it started to get really annoying. So, I tried to get my friend to ask her out on a date or something. He really didn't want to do that. He knew that she was bugging me, but he did not want to ask her out. I decided to start offering him things, and seeing if he would if I gave him something. We knew that if he asked her out on a date that she would stop talking to me. However, my friend didn't want to go on that date. As we were texting, I thought of a brilliant idea: why not give him my catchy plastic kendama and have him ask her out on a date! He gladly accepted this offer. I gave him the kendama, however, he had to ask her out on a date. So long story short, they ended up not going on a date, which was great for him. It ended up being a win-win situation. He got a kendama, and she stopped annoying me. Eventually, when he got a another kendama, he decided to donate his kendama back into our newly formed kendama club. Everything worked out perfectly, and the kendama love was spread. However, when you think about it, if it wasn't for that annoying girl with a big crush, he probably wouldn't have gotten that kendama. And in the end, he and I both learned a valuable lesson: the way to get rid of annyoing girls is giveaway a kendama.
    Happy Holidays!
    THE END

My Friend Jose had his birthday party a couple days ago. I brought my kendama and he started to play with it. He had played kendama before, but only had one (it has the ring stall and handle stall completely gone, and has cracks). I figured because he is so interested in kendama that I would give him a pretty new kendama, that looked similar to the one he had before (by the way, the kendama that I plan on giving him has amazing lunar balance). I had a Christmas party that he didn't show up to for separate reasons, but I still hope I can give it to him before the end of break. Thanks if you took the time to read this! IMG_0069.JPG

I host a monthly Kendama Jam in Edmonton AB Canada called "Kore Kendama Jam" (based out of my home dance studio, The Kore Dance Studio". The first few were very successful, but unfortunately after some time a lot of my usual jammers stopped coming out. Whether it was just a trend to them at the time, or they just got bored of it, the Kendama community slowly began to fall.

My most recent jam on the 17th had about 8 participants, some good friends and a few new faces. The event I usually ask for a few bucks to help pay for space rental fees, and for prizes. I strung up about 10 setups and brought a handful of tamas , strings and stickers. During the jam, I realized that the least I could do for those who came out and supported was to thank them for supporting the Edmonton Kendama scene by giving them a bunch of setups you see in the attached photo. All of the setups and extras I gave out were out of my personal collection. Just seeing the excitement in all of their faces really opened my eyes and made me feel very special.

After I gave a bunch of the players new setups, they started trying tricks they have never done before . It really shows how something new and special pushed them to try something new. I had some beginners lacing double j-sticks, bird over valleys and lighthouse flips out of nowhere!

I've been trying to grow the Kendama Edmonton community, especially when it hasn't seen much light since Alex Smith left Edmonton. But I feel acts like this is a great opportunity for me to give back to the community and give everyone something special from me for the holidays. I never really needed those setups. If it meant that losing some of my prized kendamas in order to grow and support my community in something I love, it was most definitely worth it.

Thank you for the opportunity and the time for reading this entry of mine and I hope you have a Merry Xmas and Happy New Year! Much love!

Well, i bought this beech kendama co zen when the liquidation sale was happening, and i got it on the mail, i played it one time because i got an alex smith kendama usa promodel, i forgot about this zen, i went to school, i asked my friends what i should do with this zen they just said to give it to them for free, but i knew they all had like 4 or 5 damas witch made me think well if all of my friends have a bunch of damas then why dont i give it away to someone who doesnt have any, and all if this happend before i knew about this giveaway, and just recently at the place where my mom goes to work out, there was a toy drive, so i put it in my moms car and wrote a note saying to drop it off when she went to do her workout that day. i guess she diddent see it there because when i asked her if it got to the toy drive she said " what i didden't see anything" so she took it in the next day and it finally got to this toy drive. So all and all i gave a basically brand new kendama to someone who isnt going to get ANY presents for the holidays this year.
PS thank you Down Spike for this opoutunity for entering this giveaway and for creating this giveaway and lastly for giving me this opourtunity to share my story! Plus my friend has been really wanting that cooks custom complete so if i win i am going to give it to him!
