This is a really minor topic but whatever. Do you use the small or big cup to do inward stilts? I've noticed that some of the best players at stilts (primarily Luke Ford) use small cup which I find interesting. Is it just preference on the forward or inward pull-up or is using small cup somehow better? What do you think are the advantages of each cup, or are they pretty much the same? Interested to see people's preferences.
I typically go small cup. Depending on the dama, there can definitely be a big difference. With a smaller cup and the right angle of bevel it could be possible to get a lot more contact between the rim of the cup and the inside of the bevel. More surface area = better grip in most cases in my experience.
Pull up to inward stilt is big cup, but if I swing to inward stilt (which is very rare) I land small cup.
I would argue it's not rare at all. Luke Ford, Dwesty, Logan Tosta, and Liam reuter are just a few pros who always swing to small cup.
In Comps if it says stilt or inward stilt and you did it with small cup instead of big cup would you not complete the trick?
Ah I see. Certainly no need to apologize naw you'd be fine. It's the same trick, so no need to penalize. Also, I've several players do small cup inny stilts in comps.
The relationship between the tama bevel and the various contact points on the ken is one of the reasons I really check fit between those points if I'm looking to put together a Frankendama. Some combos look good on paper but end up being incompatible.
