Downspike members can create their own profiles, post videos, polls, discussions, and more. It also offers a forum where users can get trick tips, discuss or organize events, or connect with kendama brands and pros. It's a place to spread the joy of 'dama! WATCH: how to use the DS app Who made it? Downspike is the brainchild of the godfather himself, Colin Sander. Find him on here as "Grandpa Sandz" What is DS Hype? If you click "leaderboard", you'll see a list of the top Downspike contributors. DS Hype is a comprehensive measurement of how much you've contributed to the community. Think of it as "good karma" points for spreading the love. Collect Hype points for chances at prizes, discounts with partner brands, and more! What are DS Trophies? DS Trophies are similar to hype, but they award site-specific achievements. (For example, posting your first thread or getting 100 likes on a video) How are "Top" and "Trending" videos calculated? Top Videos are sorted by an algorithm takes upvotes and downvotes into consideration and determines the "Vote score." The algorithm uses the lower bound of Wilson score confidence interval for a Bernoulli parameter. If you really want to nerd out, click here. Trending Videos are sorted by an algorithm that takes time/date posted and number of upvotes into consideration to determine the "Heat score." New videos get higher scores right off the bat but an older video can take over if it has enough upvotes. The algorithm uses a log scale so the first 10 upvotes have the same "weight" as the next 100 upvotes which have the same "weight" as the next 1000. Latest Videos are... well... you know. How do I get a video "Featured"? Post a great video! Downspike moderators have the ability to feature videos. Can I be a Moderator? You can be anything you put your mind to. Anyone can be a moderator, subject to approval. Is there an App? In version 1.0, we only allow embeds from reputable video sites (YouTube, Vimeo, etc). As the community grows and the economics begin to make sense, we will allow direct uploads to Downspike. Why are my video view counts on Downspike different than my views on YouTube? We use different (less strict) metrics to count views than youtube does. How can I help? Use the site! Will there be a list of rules set (I've never felt soo nerdy asking that)? other than obvious common sense stuff like don't post porno or attack other members. Limits on signatures, images/videos(memes) containing foul language. Basically, what's allowed & what isn't. I was also curious about the video uploading rules. Are we allowed to post up a video thats not already on the site, but isn't made by the person posting it here?
Good question. RULES ARE FOR SISSIES For now the only is DBAA (don't be an asshole) And obviously, keep it legal. No porn, no drug deals, no piracy links, all that common sense stuff as you mentioned. As for uploading videos that aren't yours, we encourage the original owner to upload all their stuff, but if they choose not to, there's no reason not to post other people's content. This is 2016, shit is meta.
@amor @Cheech_Sander Question: was a decision made to restrict quotes to only one level of depth? Is it possible to expand this to multiple levels? I like how the quotes only show a portion of the post if it is a long one (unless you click to expand), but is it possible to include more levels of quotes? If you're trying to read a conversation, this is easier than clicking the little arrow to bounce around a thread finding all the previous replies. Second question: Is it possible to expand the emoticon menu? haha

Guys, to post a picture, make sure you upload it and THEN click "Insert as..." and either pick thumbnail or full size. If you just upload it, it attaches as a link, instead of included in your forum post.
hello, the age on my account seems to be wrong. The date and month is correct but the year is wrong, I probably didn't enter it correctly because my iPad was being really glitchy at the time but is there a way that you can change it to 2003 and not 1990?
