I was thinking about this when I started getting WAY too deep on homemade pizza in the freezer pizza thread... Who gets more stoked on certain foods, drinks, or whatnot than the average person? I know there are a lot of coffee nuts in the kendama community for instance. What are your obsessions? Tell us what you dig and share some knowledge about something that other people might not know or care as much about!
We sell kendama out of our Japanese ramen shop in Manila so I guess that makes me kind of a noodle guy. Something people might not know, hmm maybe. . . how about it's called "ramen" because the Japanese language has a hard time with the original Chinese word's pronunciation from which it's derived and substitute "R" for "L" in "lamian." Also "lamian" is pulled noodles in Chinese but most Japanese ramen seems to be extruded like spaghetti or sometimes hand cut but seldom pulled.
I got into Yerba Mate, a type of dried herb made into a tea that is popular in South America a couple years ago, and now drink it almost daily. Like kendama, mate brings the local community together in countries like Argentina, Paraguay, and Brazil where it is harvested and consumed.
I'm just a foodie, haha. Living in Southern California offers such a diverse culture which means there's always something new to try. I love trying new foods and especially like going to little cafes with yummy desserts and boba or coffee. Food events out here are also the best to attend!
I probably get stoked on milk tea way too much. It just has something in it that makes it delicious besides the boba.
I agree! SoCal has the most diverse food culture. There's a large variety of cuisines and fusions! You can get amazing Korean BBQ in one city, and then drive to the next city to get delicious Mexican food. Japanese food, Filipino food, Chinese food, Indian food, Thai food, Italian food, sweets/bakeries of many cultures, and even bars/cafes. You'll find them in SoCal within a quick driving distance from each other. If I move out of SoCal, I swear I'll lose weight, haha!
Subway is and will always be my love.. Spicy Italian footlong, pepperjack cheese, toasted, lettuce, jalapenos, tomatoes, and subway vinaigrette along with an Arizona Green Tea with Honey & Ginseng. So prime..
I am from Kolding, Denmark. The city is also called "Slicetown" because of the insane amounts of pizza places around, and how everyone is always eating pizza slice instead of any other kind of junk. I am pretty into pizza as a result, although I always get the exact same thing if I can: pepperoni, mushrooms and peppers. I'll eat it over anything, it's just too good. If you ever go to Denmark and pizza is your thing, then Kolding is worth a visit for sure.
You seem like a pizza expert so I'll ask you this. How do you eat your pizza? Do you fold in half like a wallet or the long way like a taco?
Just a foodie too. I also cook my own meals at home. From scratch. We're blessed to have a really diverse food culture here in Malaysia. Chinese, Indian, Malay, make up the majority, and there are many, many more to the mix. It's entirely possible to eat a different and new dish everyday for the rest of your life, i think. As far as cooking goes, i'm able to prepare Chinese, Western and Italian cooking, and occasionally some Malay cooking too!
Trying out the new batches The Roaster My coffee lab is extensive ☕️ PS. If you haven't tried a pour over coffee from a roastery you haven't lived
I'm not too hardcore but I do love to eat. Vancouver is actually pretty well known for food, the diversity is huge, and lots of good quality places. Sushi is one I love. There are SO MANY sushi places is Vancouver. It's ridiculous, and awesome
The key is you take the pizza slice and spin it in the air like a frisbee. However it lands you have to eat it that way towards you.
This is amazing! I've definitely dove deep into coffee and espresso in the last six months or so. Not this deep yet tho!
