I've been using the same stainless steel digital vernier caliper for years and it finally croaked. I don't know if the little LR44 battery leaked (can't really see any corrosion) or the electronics just decided to die. In any event I'm in the market for a replacement. A standard 200mm size but this time I'd like it to be lithium battery powered (CR2025, CR2032) if possible. Any suggestions?
I'm putting up a tent here to see what you've gotten yourself. A digital caliper may be of use to my review vids.
I'm still looking for one with a lithium battery; everything is LR44. I have an old mechanical one that I can use for now but a digital readout is so much easier on the eyes.
It's a premium but I would recommend the Mitutoyo digital caliper. Everyone at work uses one and they are truly the best of the best when it comes to smoothness, accuracy, and overall durability.
Just a quick glance shows some models that are solar which would definitely work. I have a thing about leaking batteries and LR/SR44s fall into that particular dislike.
It’s for this reason i usually take out the batteries from my scales after use. Since i hardly use them anyway, so there’s that.
Do that myself but still don't like the SR/LR button cells, had too many go bad in flashlights, laser pointers, clocks, and other items.
I'll 2nd Mitutoyo digital Vernier. I work in a machine shop on sliding head cnc machines. Very oily and lots of swarf and everyone uses Mitutoyo. Even dropped mine into a cup of coffee before and it was fine!
Back in the US for a while and was able to finally get a replacement that didn't break the bank and seems to be well reviewed. Amazon Link. It has a 2 year warranty, an Absolute Origin function my old one didn't have, and it takes lithium batteries. Also has a USB connection that I'll likely never use.
