So my cousin and I just got a maple and ash craft. Should we glue the tips? We both just want to break the tama in to perfection for the best playability. Will glueing the tips affect the breaking in process in any negative or positive way?
Gluing the tip has many different opinions within the community but I personally prefer to glue it. Honestly creating those indents on the tama definitely helps out with a good grip and breaking it in. Playing with it and sweating honestly helps out more though. The oil from your hand and forehead will give you the best amount of grip once it's broken in.
I used to glue my Ken tips for durability, but I like my Damas less dented, so I don't glue it anymore. Once the spike is slightly more blunt, it won't damage the Dana as much. The spike won't get any more blunt past a point unless you drop it really hard, or yanking. Also it helps me to hone toward a more softer/ precise play style.
I used to glue my tips too but recently i realised that my tamas are gettin destroyed because of that so i stopped doing that. The spike doest get blunt that easily anyway
