Throughout a dama players' career, they go through many-a-dama...if you could snap your fingers and magically summon one dama you had in the past that you would like to slay all over again, what would it be and why? For myself, when Anthony and I started painting damas in his garage we found a really nice formula for what became the first 400 or so Atlantic Kendamas. If I could, I would snap my fingers and make a "Sea Foam" Driftwood Series dama appear in my hands. I loved staining and painting those bad boys and they never failed me...oh, the memories.
For me it would be one of two damas. 1. My ghost silk kaizen. I recieved this as a Christmas present last year right about when I was starting to build my skill level and get extremely stoked on dama. The thing was so honed and everything from stalls to balance tricks just sat on it. After the brief period of amazing lasting till about early February, I had completely rawed out the area around the bevel, which for a player of my skill at the time, was virtually unplayable for balance tricks. I miss it so much. 2. This summer, me and my family went on a road trip throughout lower Oregon and NorCal which was based around the Redwoods. I was allowed two setups for the entire trip. I chose a Tk-16 ken and a KUSA trip stripe tama. This was about the time where I was getting stoked on juggles, taps, instas, and late flips and slings, and I shredded that setup so hard. I have about 1/4 the basecup that was originally there on it.
I had an opportunity to buy a metallic blue OG ozora in package for $30, and said no because it was too expensive. Ended up paying something like $27 for a blue tk16... haha I'd go back and buy the pink, sky blue, leaf green, and metallic blue </3
In October, I lost all of my belongings, and with it was a beech Atlantic ken with an arctic fade cushion clear tama. The slingers and lunar were so honed on that ken. Miss it like crazy.
I had a Kream back in the summer of 2015 that was absolutely honed for handlestalls for some reason. I hit around handle for the first time and spacewalk swap handle first try on that thing. I have no idea why it was so honed, but I ended up selling it to a kid who always came to the kiosk I worked at. He kept asking me about it and I always said no, but I finally gave in when he offered me $40 and lunch from the Japanese place. I had another fresh one waiting at home but it didn't break in the same way that particular Kream did. If I could go back, I'd have sold him the freshie instead of the one that was honed af.
I received a maple GT-1 last Christmas, and back then I didn't really like natties and it was just too plain. I ended up trading it for a bonzai ash and I've really wanted it back ever since.
I wish I could make my KUSA Alex Smith promod reappear in mint condition. The maple wood, the woodburned labyrinth on the handle, the silk paint, the maple leaf for tracking - I really loved it It was my second kendama and the first worthy of mention. Bought it four months after I started playing. Had to pay around 20 dollars extra for shipping (I'm from eastern europe). Nonetheless, I remember being so stoked once it came in mail. Unfortunately, it didn't last long; I was the only one among my friends who had a kendama, so everyone was learning tricks on it. As soon as my friends started doing downspikes (which looked more like 'prison shanks') the spike went dull and the silk paint got cracks which continued to propagate during time. The cups got a beating too due to learning multiple kenflips. I was looking forward to learning lunars on it, but it was just too beat up. I'll post a picture of it later.
I had a roots kendamas rubber jammer blue with white stripe I only had it for a week when it got stolen at school I really wish I could have it back in mint condition. And hopefully roots comes Out with them again
i once got a keyaki ozora where the spike was absolutely gorgeous and the wood was dense. i paired it with a GT-1 birch sarado and a stodd tama. i remember the first triple sling and the first multiple lunar flips laced with it. i shredded it to death, multiple chips on the spike. but i'm still having a strong bond with the sarado. please come back :'(
Those cherry-cherrys are still such pounders to this day... I should break in some of the few i'm sitting on ... maybe I'll find one for you : )
Would love to get a new chance to slay a Krom Deluxe "The Claw", was my third dama, and i slayed it for like 8 months at least.
My Battlescar maple Ozora Decided to jam one from the batch I painted up, then lost it like 3 days later. Wtf! I usually don't misplace stuff like that.. I think I may have left it at this Malay restaurant we sometimes hit up after jam night. Hmm
