Pretty wild format this year! I tuned into a zoom viewing party for pretty much the whole event, was definitely kinda passing out during the end-of-day-one finalist announcements though lol. I was probably logged in for like 15+ hours of viewing over the weekend. As an English viewer, my impression was that the first day wasn't super interesting to watch - it was kinda hectic, and after the first couple rounds pretty much all of the commentary was in Japanese (which was appropriate, there being mostly Japanese competitors in those rounds). That said, our zoom call kept things spicy during the down time haha. The second day was great though, it was really exciting watching the second round. The cutthroat ladder format was ruthless! An epic run could be entirely unhinged by the final trick, and there were some crazy buzzer beaters too. The third round was also entertaining, though I've gotta admit the format is almost too cut throat. It didn't really feel good watching Liam lace a bazillion points worth of tricks, but then not even get a score because he didn't complete the last couple level 5 tricks. Thats the way it goes... but I feel like it left something to be desired still. Everyone in the final round absolutely ripped though, no doubt. Crazy to watch! Overall, I'm really impressed with how it all went down. Huge congrats to GLOKEN for once again defining the cutting edge of kendama competition, even in this rona'd out year. Our zoom call pulled in Zawa and Kota a few times, so we got some behind-the-scenes looks at what was going down at GLOKEN HQ, they were putting in some serious work! Awesome, all around
