I was doing an unrelated search and ran across this site; Thingiverse. They have a number of kendama projects and even a "Pendama" from back in 2015. Does anyone here tried this site? Anyone have their own 3D printer? Do you design in something like Google Sketchup like what @Congarranza is working on?
I've seen these at the local library/makerspace. They look interesting, but I'm not sure if I'll ever make one.
So, wait, you can go to a local library and print these things there? Wonder what the costs would be.
Some public libraries will charge you based on the amount of filament you want to use. At the university I went to, it was free to all students in the major (Mechanical engineering for those wondering). It's just making a ken is super difficult (especially the swoops) cause you need to add structure when printing them and that's what you're trying to avoid when you are 3D printing.
@Thomas Ishikawa @Guy LaBorde Hmm, looks like I may need to expand my knowledge base and learn some 3D design software any suggestions there? This could be pretty fun. Thanks for the info.
Your best one would probably be Autodesk Inventor. The UI is good, the CAD interface is similar to what is being used in industries, and there's probably a ton of tutorials online and on YouTube. It's also free to students (its probably still free even if you're not a student).
