So I was casually scrolling through Instagram today, and then this popped up: Looks pretty cool! I think it's going to be made out of beech wood and will feature a new paint rather than the classic, icy gloss used on the old TK's. What are your thoughts on the TK coming back in beech wood and with a new paint?
Agreed. It's looks a lot like it. But it could play completely different. I guess we will see soon enough.
They appear to be beechwood, hopefully they actually drop in Birch! That seems very core to the TK16, without them being birch... it just isnt right! Also, hopefully that paint is slicky af. A grippy TK is just... not a TK! haha
The TK Original and the new Meijin should just switch names lol The paint on the TKs does look interesting though, looks like a good jammer
So excited. Seems like a lot of big things are happening in kendama communities worldwide, could be a good sign for awesome things to come. Even since I have started playing about two years ago or so I have seen an explosion in kendamas available. A tenured player can pretty much find a kendama to fit his or her exact play style and I think that could really be helping players push themselves to that next level.
Is it just me or does the cups look bigger than a standard tk? This shape reminds me of the prime shape
I totally agree. I will be so upset if they aren't made out of birch! I don't see why they would switch it to beech. That would prevent me from purchasing one.
As a new 'dama on the seen I think they look pretty cool. But calling it a TK16 Original is surely just a sales pitch, as already pointed out the paint looks sort of matte gripy, the ken looks like beech with possibly bigger cups, and to my eyes it does not look like an Original TK16. More TK-Ozora hybrid!
@Sir Spike I've confirmed it with GLOKEN staff: they are beechwood Too bad! The TK16 was the quintessential birch kendama imo
Wish I could get my hands on one of those birch TK's. I feel it is a must have in any collection and I was just a little too late for that boat. Insert sad face here.
I'm pretty sure the tk16 master is still around on websites. Ken usa I think has some. And sol too. Not 100% sure but fairly certain.
you can definitely still get some, I have one fresh in the bag still if you really need one in your life, but you can also get them from KUSA
