That cushion clear chips off for me after a few seshs Otherwise, sol flow. No worries about paint, and it'll get better over time.
Red TK-16, no question. By mid year, if you jam everyday, you can do lunars on that thing. Plus, with the proper care (play over grass, sweat in the ken), it is an absolute tank. Hell, even if you beat it to death, it's still gonna jam like nothing happened.
Hhhhmmmmm... If all natty, a tk would be fine or any maple/birch dama. If it has paint, i prefer either a kusa maple pro mod or similar maple product to kusa, or Krom nihon maple or any similar maple krom products except bday. I just love maple so much, especially krom slaydawgs plus i've been fully liking KUSA but my last kaizen is beech so i tend to chip it quick. My birch lasted me 4-5 months (with chipping, but still playable) until i fully chipped it that i couldn't play with it. Never own myself a maple but by experience i chipped one of my buddies maple setup that was 6 months old & it was really honed with all the sweat. It was horrible but i have landed my trick using that.
I've seen this said every year in the FKC, and most people drop off in less than a month. It would be cool to see someone do it successfully
@KendamaJas I just don't feel like liking it plus im very minimalistic when it comes to dama design. I just appreciate simple colorways. Either fades or solid splits, it's just my style.
so, this is actually pretty interesting for me specifically, as i will have to do this, possibly for 2 years. Ill be going on a church mission for 2 years, and will either have to jam 1 kendama for both years, or have my parents/someone i meet along the way find a way to hook me up with one. All y'all have been saying that birch slays the hardest and lasts the longest. so with some considerable thought, i am going to have to grab either a birch natty, maybe a tk or if i could, any birch GT.
If we do the challenge does the dama we choose have to be the only one we use for a year? Cause that would be crazy!
I would pick a craft maple plus slim or a GT-BH hardwood. These natties would be so honed. Both damas are meant to last too.
@NolanR82 yup. Thats's pretty much the title of the thread suggest. BUT everyone's answer are basically what dama will they play for a year, not exactly only one specific kendama but could be one kind of kendama... If you can slay specifically only one dama within a yeat without damaging it, you're a total legend...
Hickory kens are tougher than bricks!! I've mated mine with a maple tama, and the ken still looks new.
Keyaki Ozora. I think it would be the only ken I have to take a year long beating and make it out alive.
Makes sence! Thank you for explaining. One pro of the bday though is the drill hole for better lunar balance, but that is also a con if you like finger spin tricks
Like almost everyone here has said, interesting. Even if I try to stick to one dama for a month at most, I usually JUST use that dama if I'm filming something and pick up other setups to jam quickly. Would like to try and start 2018 with a fresh setup, depending on what's on the market just before the end of the year.
