I dont really care that much about weights anymore. Been jaming the old slaydawg fishmod for a few months and the Ken is 14 grams heavier than the tama and the sword is 4 grams heavier than the sarado, still loving it more than my dead om bonzmod with a 2 grams heavier sarado.
It’s all about density and where it is most dense, two random 34 gram swords will most likely play similarly but will never feel exactly the same. Take the HG Kens for example, you could theoretically find a Purple Heart spike ken, and a regular maple (Next gen) HG ken with the same sword weight, but they wouldn’t play the same even if you had the same +weight cups and just swapped between the two swords. It’s all about where that dense area sits. Even within a sample of wood, like how they can’t see the voids until they are kind of mid-turning process, inside your finished product there could be a small, but unique wood growth that influences how it is balanced. (This is kinda my speech for when muggles ask me why I would ever need more than one Kendama.)
