I glue the tips of all my main jammers. This helps extend the life of the spike tips, plus dull spikes don’t feel satisfying when spiked, somewhat. For the really sharp tips, i sand them down to a round (bullet) tip, much like the TKs and Sweets Pro Mods, then i glue them with two or three layers of Gorilla Glue.
One of the cons is, that you can't border balance. But I don't think that'll be a problem for you at the moment.

With some damas its almost a must. I have a camofire from Atlantic and that ken would be dulled past the sarado if I didnt slap glue on it.
I always glue my beech kens and wondering if it’s necessary to glue maple kens or is it a hard enough wood.

Overall it doesn't hurt to glue your tip if you want to prolong Spike Life regardless of wood type. Just make sure that the tama on the ken is ok to take the little extra abuse of a harder spike. In short: If you want your ken to live longer - glue the spike. It you prefer to keep your tama "fresh" longer don't
