An inch is a lot bigger than most bevels I use so you could make in huge!!! And the bevel could be less steep

I feel like KWC should allow bigger damas like the LBB. But, I don't thank that they should allow 3rd party attachments or implants. I wouldn't want for someone to have a dama that has a completely unfair advantage. No weights, grips, or flat stall points. But sliming up the sword or drilling in the base cup can bel allowed.

    I dunno..
I think the Slaydawg is the limit of what fits, and probably for a good reason.
i feel like there should be a cap/limit somewhere, and that the Slaydawg should be that cap.
I mean, size is hardly detrimental to the ability to hit a trick, and if the box gets increased to LBB size, then everyone’s gonna rush it and make all the damas to that size.
It’s great that we slightly deviated from the JKA sizing, but let’s not stray too far.

3rd party implants, modifications, and attachments shouldn’t be allowed, but if they were manufactured with it, it should really be okay.
Case in point is the Yumu Saturn bands, and the new Musou stall grooves and replaceable tip.
What we really wouldn’t want is a dama that’s damaged to a point that it can harm people in the surrounding area.

Mods like slimming swords and weight relieving have always been allowed in comps though (except the JKA).

Slay dawg is pretty much as tall as a JKA dama, so you could go larger that way. I think the sarado is wider, but it still isn't the max for KWC.
I kinda feel the same about most mods... how do you draw the line though? Can someone beeswax their setup? Custom painting? Am I allowed to just wrap a tama and ken in masking tape really tight, and play that?

@Broc Stauffer LBB is really close, but it just doesn't fit. It's like 1.8mm too wide and 4mm too tall (fresh spike). If the spike flattens out a lot it might fit in height-wise lol.

It's a play on Shoegoo. Skateboarders used it to repair their shoes.

I legit wrestle with where the line should be drawn @htimSxelA. I mean, I joined dama a little late, so I'm not necessarily an OG ozora-was-my-first-love kind of guy, but I also take a look at the new stuff like primes or the birthday slaydawg, and I'm like mmmmmmmmmm I dunno man. I'm hoping that ken modification will plateau a little soon, and trick advancement will instead take off.

We're going to eventually find the ideal size, if there even is one (everyone's different and all). Kendamas get harder to use for most tricks after a certain size, and bigger bevels have disadvantages too. i like to think of the recent changes to kendama as something similar to skateboarding. Modern skateboards look nothing like the heavy old school asymmetrical boards people used to ride, but skateboarding is the better for it. Even now though, everybody has their own preferred deck width and wheel size. I think there's room for some variation in kendama as well.

now is a really exciting time to be into kendama. Slaydawgs only came out a year ago*, and already we have big changes like the prime and pop kens, the BH shape, etc. everything is happening really fast, and every couple months there's some new groundbreaking shape to try. I love it!

*i see you there tetra lbb and sol flow ;)

KendamaCo would put paint (not sure how sticky) inside the cups of some Shenzus.
