I have some Jam bluetooth earphones that are my new go to. Pretty decently priced ($24) and play time is about 6 hours on a full charge. Usually use it at work in the back or when I’m playing dama.
I have some sports Bluetooth earphones that are tolerable because of their convenience but I just can't excited about actual BT headphones. Listening to compressed music through headphones that also compress seems like it's just taking too much away. Originally I ripped all my music to MP3 Pro at 192kbps because devices of the time didn't have much memory and very few could play uncompressed files. That sounded OK in the ear buds that came with most players but it was miserable with good 'phones or through a real stereo. Because of the increase in portable player drive size and the ability of many to play higher quality files I re-ripped everything a number of years ago in FLAC format and have been pretty pleased with those files particularly if I can skip the portable device's headphone out. What do you guys think of Bluetooth headphones? What are you using as source files, FLAC, WAV, OGG, MP3?
@goenKendama BT headphones are convenient, if i were to use it for jogging, or workouts, or in some situations where i have no pockets, or just wanna move around the kitchen without having the cords annoy me. I primarily use ALAC (Apple Lossless) at 16-bit / 44 for my audio. It’s just about the same as FLAC, but made to work with Apple music players. For certain reference files, i keep them at 24-bit / 192 to test DAC/amp combos, should i need to purchase one.
Audio technicha m50x. They should so crisp and sharp. Only $130 max. You can fin them cheaper on Amazon. They are very sturdy and are made to last. Worth every penny.
@azleonhart So what reference files do you like for comparisons? I'm partial to the The Sheffield Track/Drum Record album. We used to use it when I worked at an audio/video store waaay back.
There's quite a number of tracks that i have, and i'm kinda lazy to type them out, so i took a screenshot instead! I am particularly fond of using Chesky's albums to test stuff, especially the binaural ones.
Needed an inexpensive set of phones and tried these Monoprice ones out. . . $9.21 on sale. I was really surprised how well they did though not as efficient as Monoprice 8323s mentioned in a previous post but they sound pretty good to me. I'm going to get a Y splitter with separate volume controls to see which I like better. For the money it's really hard to go wrong.
