You should see some of @RodDama's TKs! Destruction! Ozo vs TK... depends what you're looking for? Wanna be as legit as it gets? Shred a TK. Want something more all-around playable? Ozo
Had a TK snap the other day in the shop. Someone was really crunching the sarado down on the ken and it snapped at the string hole on the ken. That's one of the reasons I try to get people not to go all Hulk on their sarado tightening. Edit: On the TK16s you're referring to the "Mutant" that escaped from the manufacturing facility. It was not an intentional change and they went back to the original shape and paint after it was discovered. Here's more info from another post. On the Ozora and egg shaped tama I'm kind of surprised to hear that. My understanding is that some of the OGs had eggy tama but I haven't seen one "bad egg" from Ozora in several years. You must be an egg magnet.
My friend completely destroyed his TK after only playing it for a month during 28 tricks later. The spike snapped in half
Yup! It actually doesn’t look that bad in the pic. He also had a black TK that got even more annihilated than this one.
I’ve noticed an interesting difference between my TK16 and Ozora is the hole itself on the Tama. The hole from the TK16 is a little wider but the bevel on it is smaller and vice versa for the Ozora. Idk if that helps at all, but it was interesting!
Out of the box I'd give a slight edge to TK16/Meijin Takumi. The finish tends to be a bit grabbier than the Ozora.
I've had both ozora and TK for a while, so I feel more qualified to give an answer to this question. I prefer TK. Just a really rock solid jammer that you can just sesh at all times. So durable and just a really solid feeling in the hands. My natty tama broke in great. The birch on birch is very good for stalls and lighty's (even been able to lace some lunar lines), the only downside is that the tiny bevel makes stalls, especially stilt, harder. Slays slingers, obviously. The only downside that I can say is the bevel, but it makes you a better player anyway. Ozora is good, just doesn't have the same solid feeling in your hand, can't really describe it. Also less durable, so I don't feel like I can sesh in any situation unlike the TK. Just ordered my second TK to take with me in Ecuador, where I'll be going soon.
A lot of my TKs ran heavy, my preference, so the lighter Ozora tends to feel less solid but it was just a matter of playing them for a while to get used to them. I still prefer heavies though. I started with a TK16 and when I got my first Ozora I thought something was wrong with it because the tama hole seemed so much bigger. I thought maybe I got a defective one.
