I primarily practice for meditation. From that I've grown to love the challenge of learning new tricks. Recently, I've been connecting with people thanks to kendama. I met a kid on the train the other day who was watching me play. I asked him if he wanted to try it and he blew my mind. I've been playing for about ten months and am finally starting to string solid lines together. This dude was hitting around the world, airplane, jumping stick and stuff his first or second try. We were getting so hyped that I missed my stop and didn't notice for 20 minutes. That connection get me stoked and motivated. One of my homies just picked up a kendama after I showed it to him a couple months ago. Seeing him start to discover it and learn, has been sick. We had a nice sunny day sesh yesterday and it was the dopest part of my weekend.
I play because it gives me an outlet. I am always constantly moving around and it feels very awkward to sit around for long periods of time. Kendama has brought me into a new state of comfort with my free time. Plus it gives a gateway to meet new people and show them what kendama is about. I love spreading the joy of kendama and it will never cease to be a part of my life.
